Showstream is Robert Merkle. Agencies and producers bring him in when a broadcast matters too much to leave to chance, general sessions, multi-site programs, and awards shows where there is no second take and nothing gets fixed later. He owns the technical outcome, which mostly means the people who hired him get to stop thinking about it.
Merkle started in master control at AMC Networks, holding national broadcast quality on air for Fox Sports, AMC, Bravo, and WE tv. It is the seat where a mistake reaches millions of viewers and there is no version that gets quietly repaired in post. That is where his discipline came from, and he has never entirely shaken it: live television cannot be paused, and it does not care about your excuses.
From there the path ran through brand content and cinema. Five years at Victoria's Secret, producing creative video packages and directing the technical side of their quarterly brand shows. Then nearly five more producing and directing interactive live events for Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, television-style multi-camera broadcasts sent to national in-theater audiences and social feeds at the same time. The combination turns out to be the useful part: a brand-grade sense of how content should feel, sitting on top of a broadcast engineer's discipline.
Today he holds standing technical director contracts in healthcare communications and broadcast, and his agency work runs to high-stakes corporate broadcast, including four consecutive years technical directing the Webby Awards from Cipriani Wall Street. On any given program he is the connective tissue between producers, clients, stage management, AV teams, creatives, and remote contributors, which is a polite way of saying he is the one everyone calls when something is on fire.
The measure of this work is not how impressive it looks from the booth. It is whether the people who hired him ever had to think about the technical side at all. Ideally, they did not.
Showstream is a principal-led practice backed by a trusted network of technical producers, engineers, operators, and AV specialists across the U.S. and Europe.
That structure is deliberate. You get one accountable person who is actually on your program rather than an account manager who hands you to whoever is available. When a program needs a crew of twelve, we build it from people we've worked with before rather than whoever a staffing agency sends.
One point of accountability. The person who scoped your program is the person on site.
Crew we vouch for. We don't subcontract to strangers.
Right-sized teams. We don't pad a crew list to hit a margin.
Showstream operates from Philadelphia with convenient access to Philadelphia International Airport and the Northeast corridor. We travel nationally for programs and maintain a network of technical producers, engineers, and operators across the U.S. and Europe. Travel is scoped and quoted upfront, and we'll recommend remote support when it makes sense — we'd rather give you the honest cost than the cheap one that doesn't work.
The fastest way to know whether we're a fit is a short conversation about the program you're working on now.
